Ahoy angler!

We love Chinese food and as there is no halal option in Perth (apart from fully vegetarian restaurants), we have to cook it ourselves.

A simple and healthy favorite is steamed fish. Fresh whole fish (we used tailor caught off South Mole jetty in Fremantle), lots of ginger, chilies, flat leafed parsley and sauce made of olive oil, vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper and brown sugar.

This was served with steamed jasmine rice, steamed broccolini with oyster sauce, sambal belacan, and Ribena in sparkling water.

Fresh blueberries and vanilla yoghurt ended the meal.

Nothing beats fresh fish, especially one caught with our own hands (or fishing rod). This beautiful fish dish is definitely incentive to go fishing again.

  1. I've just found your blog and read through every entry! I am in love! Sadly, I see you haven't updated in awhile but please do if you have the time! I don't get out very much but your posts are certainly an eyeopener -- I hadn't realised there were so many options for Halal food in Perth.

Thanks for the amazing read, I'll be checking out some of the restaurants you've featured very soon inshaAllah. :)

  2. What a delicious looking meal! And what a shame there aren't more halal options for Chinese.
